With a history of over 160 years and a constantly confirmed prestige, the University of Bucharest is today a dynamic and inclusive academic milieu, student-centered and characterized by creativity, innovation and pragmatism.
Gathering 19 faculties, with 95 undergraduate programs, 223 master’s programs, 8 didactic master’s programs, 23 doctoral schools in specific fields and a school for interdisciplinary doctoral studies, over 50 centers and 9 research units, the University of Bucharest is well-known as an institution of excellence in education and research that has made it a priority preparing its students for life and profession.

With over 34,000 students, 1,300 professors and 600 researchers, 1,200 employees as administrative staff, the University of Bucharest is a strong and supportive community, constantly working to ensure the highest quality of provided services, guaranteeing its graduates easy and effective assimilation in the labor market, regardless of the field or program of study.

Internationalization
Over the years, the University of Bucharest has developed partnerships with 152 universities around the world and is involved in 468 Erasmus + agreements. At the same time, the University of Bucharest is connected to national, regional, European and international university networks, including: The Network of Universities from the Capitals of Europe (UNICA), The European University Association (EUA), The Balkan Universities Association (BUA), Black Sea Universities Network (BSUN), L’Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) and Central European Exchange Program for University Studies (CEEPUS).
Since 2019, the University of Bucharest is part of CIVIS – a European University Alliance along with ten other prestigious European universities: University of Aix-Marseille, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Free University of Brussels, Autonomous University of Madrid, Sapienza University of Rome, University of Stockholm, Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen, University of Glasgow, University of Lausanne, Paris Lodron University of Salzburg.

Excellence in research
The University of Bucharest has more than 50 affiliated institutes, departments and research centers, linked to the fields of study within its faculties, as well as the “Dimitrie Brandza” Botanical Garden in Bucharest, the UNESCO Geopark Țara Hațegului, several Neolithic and medieval archeological sites and a series of research units: in ecology, in Sinaia and Brăila, in geography and geology, in Orșova, Eșelnița and Sfântu Gheorghe, and in physics, in Surlari. At the same time, the Research Institute of the University of Bucharest (ICUB), founded in 2014, was developed as an innovative structure that encourages excellence and interdisciplinarity in Life, Environmental and Earth Sciences, Exact Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences. ICUB’s mission is to provide a dynamic and creative environment for both young and reputable researchers and to establish itself as a central point in the international network of research institutes, promoting collaboration and partnerships with other research centers and projects.
